What special needs do you work with?
We specialize in working with individuals with mild to moderate autism, Asperger's, ADHD, social anxiety and similar social cognitive and developmental disabilities. If your child has a different diagnosis, it is possible that s/he may still benefit from our programs. We can determine this through an intake interview. If we determine that the programs we offer are not a fit for your child's needs, we are always happy to provide you with a list of resources that may be more suitable.
What ages are served by Social Motion?
Primary (Pre K - Kindergarten), through adulthood.
When exactly will my child's class be?
This will depend on which class is the best fit for your child. Placement is determined by the Education Consultant during an intake interview. Generally, the class will be either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm, at one of our site locations in Houston's East End, Katy, Missouri City, Sharpstown, Spring Branch, or The Woodlands. Please schedule an intake interview with the Education Consultant if you would like to learn more.
How long are the social skills classes?
Classes range from 45 minutes to 75 minutes depending on student age.
How much do social skills classes cost?
Prices range from $40 to $60 per class, depending on the length of the class. For the teen and young adult social groups, the cost is $150 per month. Monthly payment plans are available.
How long is the intake interview for social skills classes, and how much does it cost?
The intake interview for social skills classes lasts 30 minutes and costs $30.
Why is a social skills intake interview required, and why does it cost $30?
To maintain our highest standards of quality, we require that you and your child meet personally with our Education Consultant, who is a Licensed Behavior Analyst, to determine whether your child is a fit for the program as well as whether our program is a good fit for your child and family. There is a non-refundable intake fee of $30 charged for this process. The fee will be paid for your consultation.
Do you accept health insurance or Medicaid?
No. Medicaid and/or health insurance typically do not cover our services as they are considered educational in nature, not medical or therapeutic. We recommend checking with your insurance plan to confirm whether or not they would consider any reimbursement to you for our services. We would be happy to provide you with a receipt for services if you want to submit an insurance claim on your own or perhaps use funds from a Flex account.
Do you offer scholarships or flexible payment plans?
Scholarships, partial pay subsidies, or flex payment plans may be available depending on our current funding levels and on your level of financial need. Please call 713-461-7200 or email info@socialmotionskills.org for more information or to submit a need-based statement for consideration.
Do you offer payment terms?
Yes, for most long-term classes, monthly payment options are available.
Are you able to pick up my child from school or transport them to events?
No, due to liability reasons, we are not able to transport students. Parents, or students of driving age, are responsible for their own transportation to class and to all related events or activities.
What does it mean to be on a “waitlist”?
As we seek to offer classes for new age groups, time slots or new locations, sometimes we make a list of interested parties. When we have enough students to make a group, we will do so and inform those who patiently waited. If current classes are full, we will place you on a waitlist until a spot becomes available.
